Last Light · last updated October 9, 2026
Last Light has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, phone number, or location. It runs no servers of its own. One outside company, Google, receives data from the app: gameplay statistics and crash reports through Google's Firebase, and, when ads are on, data for rewarded video ads through Google AdMob. What that involves is listed below.
- The app has no accounts and no sign-in.
- Your progress — missions cleared, stars, scrap, cores, what you have built, and your settings — is stored on your device. We do not receive your save file.
- To learn how the game is played and fix problems, the app sends usage statistics to Google Firebase Analytics: which missions you start, win, lose or leave and how long they take, stars earned, scrap and cores earned and spent, buildings built, which story scenes play, when the shop opens, when a rewarded ad is offered and watched, and, if you buy something, the product and its price. Each event is tied to a random identifier Firebase creates for this installation (not your name, your Apple account, or an advertising identifier), along with your device model, OS and app version, and an approximate country or region derived from your IP address.
- If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report: the technical state of the app at the time (stack trace, device model, OS version, free memory and disk) and the mission you were in. It does not include your name or contact details.
- The app downloads settings from Firebase Remote Config (for example, whether rewarded ads are on), which uses the same installation identifier.
- Firebase is run by Google and keeps this data under Google's privacy policy. We use it only to understand and improve the game; we do not sell it, and Google does not use it for advertising (ad personalization signals are switched off).
- If you use iCloud, that progress is also saved to your own private iCloud storage so it survives a reinstall or a new phone. Only you and Apple's iCloud service can read it; we cannot.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit, and Apple's privacy policy covers those transactions. We never see your payment details; the app only learns whether a purchase completed.
- If you are signed in to Game Center, your highest mission and total stars are posted to Apple's leaderboards under your Game Center name, along with any achievements you earn, under Apple's terms. Signing in is optional and the game never asks for it during play. You can sign out of Game Center in the Settings app.
- Advertising is rewarded video only, served by Google AdMob. Nothing is ever shown unless you choose to watch an ad in exchange for something in the game. There are no banners and no ads between levels. When you watch one, Google receives your IP address (which gives an approximate location), a device advertising identifier, which ads you have seen and interacted with, app launches, and crash and performance data from its ad component. Google uses this to choose and measure ads and to prevent fraud; how Google uses data from apps that use its services explains more.
- The app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use Apple's advertising identifier to track you across other companies' apps and websites. Firebase Analytics in this app does not collect the advertising identifier or the vendor identifier.
- In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland you are asked to consent before any ad data is used, and you may decline. You can change your answer at any time in the app under Settings, "Ad privacy choices".
- You can avoid ads entirely: nothing in the game requires them, the whole story can be finished without watching one, and with the Ad-free pass no ad loads at all (from the next time the app starts after you buy it).
- Last Light is rated 12+ and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
- You can erase all local progress in the app under Settings, "Reset progress". Deleting the app removes its Firebase installation identifier; a reinstall starts a new one.
