Fernhollow · last updated October 8, 2026
Fernhollow has no accounts and never asks for your name, email, phone number, contacts, or location. It runs no servers of its own. One outside company, Google, receives data from the app, for the purposes listed below.
- Your progress is saved on your device and, if you use iCloud, in Apple's iCloud key-value storage for your account, so it survives a reinstall and moves to your other devices. Only you and Apple hold that copy.
- Game analytics use Google Analytics for Firebase to count how the game is played: for example, how long the first order and each level take, which areas are restored, when energy runs out, how coins and gems are earned and spent, and which items are bought. Google receives these events with a random identifier for this installation of the app, your device model and iOS version, the app version, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. They are not linked to your name or any account, are never used for advertising, and are not combined with data from other apps. The app collects no advertising identifier and no vendor identifier for analytics.
- Crash reports use Firebase Crashlytics. If the app crashes or hits a serious error, Google receives a report with the state of the app at that moment (which level was open, the app version and build), your device model and iOS version, and a random identifier for this installation, so we can find and fix the problem.
- Game settings come from Firebase Remote Config, which lets us switch features (such as rewarded ads) on or off without an update. To fetch them the app sends Google a random identifier for this installation, the app version and your device's language and country settings.
- Advertising is rewarded video only, served by Google AdMob. Nothing is shown unless you choose to watch an ad in exchange for something in the game. There are no banners and no ads between screens. When you watch one, Google receives your IP address (which gives an approximate location), which ads you have seen and interacted with, app launches, and crash and performance data from its ad component. Google uses this to choose and measure ads and to prevent fraud; how Google uses data from apps that use its services explains more. Ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, you are asked for consent first and can change it any time under Settings, Privacy Choices.
- The app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use Apple's advertising identifier to track you across other companies' apps and websites.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and Apple's privacy policy covers those transactions. The app asks Apple which items you own so it can grant them; we never see your payment details.
- Notifications (energy full, a generator refilled, a weekend event starting) are scheduled on your device and only if you allow them. Nothing is sent from a server.
If this ever changes, this page will be updated before the app does.
